Le Coquelicot Plastic Surgery, conveniently located close to Tokyo’s Ginza 4-chome intersection, is very popular among foreign nationals living in Japan. The clinic covers a wide variety of treatments both surgical and non-surgical, all of which are performed by experts. With a warm welcome and friendly assistance in English, every member of our staff will do their best to achieve the goals you desire.

Jane is a regular visitor to our clinic and is always happy with the results of her BOTOX treatments. She used to have deep lines in between her eyebrows (please see the first two pictures in which she is deliberately exaggerating her expressions). Following BOTOX treatment Jane’s previous deep lines are barely noticeable (picture 3).

What is BOTOX?

‘BOTOX’ is the name originally given to a product utilizing botulinum toxin that was developed by the Allergan Incorporated Company. Botulinum toxin treatments have now become one of the most popular procedures in the fields of aesthetic surgery and dermatology worldwide and the name ‘BOTOX’ is widely used as a general term for all types of these treatments. At Le Coquelicot Plastic Surgery we use Allergan’s tried and tested, effective and safe Botox product.

BOTOX treatment performed in a few simple steps:

1. Consultation with a doctor

2. Photographs (with your permission)

3. Application of an anaesthetic cream or ice pack – if necessary

4. BOTOX injection with a fine needle.

How does BOTOX work?

The peripheral nerves release a chemical (acetylcholine) that sends messages to the muscles to contract. BOTOX affects the ends of the peripheral nerves by interrupting the release of the message-carrying chemical, thereby relaxing and reducing contraction of the muscles. This process takes place slowly within a few days of the injection.

Please see the next three photographs of Jane that were taken 10 days after her BOTOX injection.

In addition to the treatment of wrinkles, BOTOX is often used to correct ‘gummy’ smiles, excessive sweating and in jaw reduction. Moreover, it sometimes proves to be very effective in relieving migraine headaches.

Although there can be some temporary side effects such as bruising and eyelid ptosis, the beneficial effects are phenomenal.
